Default Armor Runes/Insignias

I'm am pretty new to playing Elementalist, and since I got mine out of pre, I've been wondering about how to rune up her armors(4) in order to get the most viability and enable her to play as many different roles in PvE as possible. Each headpiece has an inherent +1 on one of the secondary attribute lines, and I'm getting a fifth one for ES. All armors have +50 Runes on their chest pieces, but are otherwise clean.

Apart from upgrading one set for tanking/farming and another one for E/Mo'ing, do you have any other suggestions?

Meh, i just usually run a mixture of health and energy runes and insignias. health insignias on the chest and legs, energy on hands, head, and boots. health rune on a piece of armor, energy rune on another. minor energy storage, minor (insert att.), vigor rune. Very basic setup for general purposes. never really bothered with the conditional armor bonuses, but i'm lazy ;-)

Personally i run all Survivors on my armor. Plenty of energy for an Ele with a high enough energy storage and skills such as GOLE. I tend to have some backup higher energy weapons just in case i need to switch but it's very rare that i use them.

Well based on each of your armors (which are really nice by the way ), I think we could better help you based on what you want each armor to be used for.

I imagine each elemental armor will be used for the respective purpose (i.e. earth for tanking, fire for "nuking", water for snaring/pvp, air for spike/pvp) and from there different runes can be used for each one.

Personally I use my earth armor for farming, or tanking. So I use geomancer insignias and then whatever runes help (health, attribute, and sometimes energy). Then I use stone striker/mantra of earth but that is different story.

Any of the other armors, if not being used for some special build/gimmick, can just be built up with blessed/survivor. I'm a big proponent of armor insignias since they keep working even after your health goes down. But generally its all up to your personal preference.

Blessed insignias are a plus since as an ele you'll almost always be enchanted. (attunements say hi) The post above me is bout the just of ele armors. Earth stuff for farming set, blessed for general.....about anything else will be too specific to recommend here.

This. Blessed insignias are your best bet. Armor adds up more over time than health.

Yup, when looking at insignias for general PvE armor (so non-tanking, non-farming, etc.), you're going to want Blessed Insignias. As for runes, I tend to run Vitae on 2 armor pieces, Superior Vigor on one piece, and then either a minor ES and superior _________ (fire, earth, water, air) or major ES and major _________. The _________ attribute rune is should be attached to the headpiece, where the headpiece's inherent +1 is the same attribute as the rune.
